tegater 789 Posted October 7, 2011 Report Share Posted October 7, 2011 I knock the primer out of a cartridge, chock the rifle and do it that way. I have used a laser one, but imo any method of bore sighting, is only good enough to get you on paper. Even when using a collimater to confirm zero, they are not as precise as reality testing, but they do have a place, if you think the scope has been knocked. Hope this is of some use to you. HUnter_zero 58 Posted October 8, 2011 Report Share Posted October 8, 2011 A few years back Mrs HZ purchased me .308 & 5.56 Russian military bore sighters. Basically push sprung rod down the barrel, and look down a lens system at the end, hey presto the cross hairs would show you the POI. I only ever used them once, and that was due to having problems zeroing a sporterized P17 in .308 which was off by a mile and a half Have to say it worked very well and enabled me to shim the scope to the approximate zero and saved me hours at the range and tonnes of ammo. Never used the bore sighters again and sold them both. John Quote Link to post
