.17 hmr barrel length

i'm feeling a 14 " barrel on a anschutz any opinions on performance difference between the 14" and 18 " ? my understanding is it does not affect accuracy or speed.

It will very slightly affect the velocity, but should not effect the accuracy for normal hmr ranges out to 200. My mate has an anchutz and it shoots as well as my 16" CZ, for normal shooting.

My 16" drops the mv from 2550fps to 2477fps average.

Mike. Further to the last, I found this article interesting, when considering buying a 16" or 21" barrel. It shows how little difference there is in MV. It doesnt account for down range accuracy though.

mike i know where there is a 18 inch barrel annie 1517, in a thumbhole walnut stock, wilcat mod and s&b scope for £750

its like new and very accurate. it belongs to a lad i know.

 

he is only selling as he is upgrading to centrefire for foxing and keeping the 1417 annie in 22lr for rabbits
