My 1st trip out this season

Okay a nice early start for me, I got up at 6am to get ready for todays 1st trip out.

So off I went mars bar in my pocket and all set out down to the old victorian house that I got permission to ferret on not long ago.

I netted up the 1st warren and entered the ferret, and this one was empty, so straight onto the 2nd warren and again drew blank. So I was thinking to myself that this was a waste of time today.

I went into the woods to a nice big warren (around 30/35 holes) set it all up and put the ferret down, and within 2 minutes had the 1st in the net, me being slow I never re netted in time, and another ran out as I was stretching the 1st rabbit.

Then more bad luck as another rabbit hit the net but managed to bounce out of it and leg it.

I then had a mini heart attack when I heard a huge squeal!!! Thinking what on earth was the noise I went for a look with the bill hook  just in case some murderer is stalking the woods! But found out it was just one of the pigs backing into the electric fence haha... I have never heard a pig squeal like that!

Anyway pulled the nets back up, and I was planning on heading home, when all of a sudden the farmer turned up and asked if I could do one more warren so thought why not, so I followed the farmer to 2 big concrete steps that had a few holes ( 5 all together, 2 on one set and 3 on another) I didn't think this would hold anything... but I netted up and entered the ferrret and to my suprise 1 bolted but skipped the net AGAIN :censored: and then a few seconds later a 3/4 grown bolted which i leapt on....forget getting another bouncer.

So all in all I got 2 rabbits, one with the early signs of myxi, and the other a 3/4 grown rabbit.

Not a bad start to the season I guess.

Hope you enjoyed the read, and happy ferreting.

Joe

My ferre

well done pal good job they bolted from under them steps other wise you would have been in for a hard dig  atb for the season pal

Luckily the steps arent that steep or wide haha could of got in at the side, but also moe my little jill has never layed up... not saying she wont, just it is very unlikely as she is such a small one that she gets kicked off most rabbits.
