The first sett, well was 2 setts close together really but not joined, I was invited to enter my pup, he went and a few mins he found, was starting to draw but then he either lost hold or something and quarry went back to the first place he found, we had a fag and a cuppa and no movement so digging commenced, easy 1.3 and dog was married to racoondog, lifted and dispatched. Nice start! Couple of other places were empty. Next place was big old barn, full of various rusting farm machinery and a rusting VW beetle. My pup went for a look, but came out, tried him again, 10 mins and back out, so put more my mates experienced bitch there, came out once then re-entered, another 5 mins and she connected, (pup must learn to slow down and use nose more!!) well she was working well and when we lifted a few boards saw it was billy, but with being plenty of room every time we shifted all the scrap they moved and in the end billy bolted; yes and you can guess only man with shotgun was other side of the building!! Next place was a well worn sett, pup entered and found, 2 hours of digging found us going no where fast, real hard digging, mostly with bar, 2.4, Twice!! just broke through and billy dug on, managed to grab pup out and we thought we'd give it best.(yes I know i'll get a slagging for it). in the last place we put my mates bitch, she found, and after 2.6 of another shitty dig we lifted and dispatched, pup took a few bites under jaw and bitch had small rip in lip so we were chuffed really cos we can use the dogs again in a couple of weeks. 8 in morning we started and 10 we lifted dog from last dig. We were glad of a beer and sauna after dogs had been sorted. Thanks Antti for good weekend. Edited by antsa
