terrier stuck

Recommended Posts

hi guys my terrier got stuck again at the weekend under a shed trying to get at rats whilst i tended to a trailor. The thing is its not the first time he`s got himself wedged in something and when he knows he`s stuck he goes completely silent!!!!!! last time i lost him for 2 hours as it happens i knew where he was this time as he had been baying and digging there for a while. Is this normal for the little blighters to go silent when they are stuck as this makes it hard to find them if they are`nt collered up???

the funny thing is he`s normally a right noisey bugger that drives me up the wall. when its feeding time its wine wine wine and when playing its bark growl bark!!! it does my head in sometimes (altho he is smashing) but as soon as he`s stuck its silence he just lays there (or has done the last two times) motionless and silent????????????????????????

Just me personaly but i wouldn't work a dog to ground without a collar i know that there is always times when things go wrong but putting a dog to ground without a collar just makes for problems. If the box fails then its ear to the ground and listen and if ye have a quiet dog then feel for banging and use your t-bar to listen for breathing. One of the must useful piece of equipment is your t-bar.

i was once walking mine through a wood the path divided she went one i went the other anyway shouts her wont come so shouts again no response so walks back can see her down the track bit stearner voice get here just stood there something not right here walks down to her trap (noose) around her neck she didnt move a muscle weird how she Knew not to move

to go a little further with the storey i had my lurcher with me so i heads out off these woods walking up the edge row both dogs have crashed through it chasing a young rabbit rabbits gone down an hole so the dogs come back through the edge big dogs gone down screaming thought hes tangled in barbed wire so runs up his heads going to his back leg then looking at me and squealing hes caught in one of these nooses back leg so goes to grab his leg to stop him pulling bites me on the back of the arm which shocked me so i turns and tries to pin him down in the process hes trying to have little bites at me all over

anyway i ive got him in an head lock so as he cant bite me moves him and gets the noose off once he was up all he could do was lick me as if to say sorry the bites he was giving me was not heavy bites but the bites left a couple of marks but not punctured

anyway ive got this feeling after that he trusts me more now it did seem to change him abit hhhhmmmmm

or may be it was just me

happy hunting
