allotment hens

hiya all i just took a allotment over which has 10 blue haze poults roughly 7 months old plus a lush blue haze cock bird ,,, thing is im new too this but i bought 4 common reds, to get more eggs, but the blues wouldnt let them settle, wouldnt even let them on floor too eat or get water,,,,? anyways a lad beside me has black rocks he having probs with them also, are we right thinking neither of these can be mixed with other breeds,, other thing is, i know hens will stop laying soon but i was getting 9 eggs a day until last week when i built new chicken runs ,, was told the noise might put them off now only getting 2 eggs a day ,,,, anyone give me any pointers here thx john

Firstly you shouldn't add new birds to a flock, that is an easy way to spread any disease.

 

Quarantine is a must. Keep them seperate for a few weeks, but near to your original flock, then release your new birds with them. Place extra feeders/ drinkers in the pen so your new birds get a good chance of eating and drinking if they get bulllied, which they will for a while. Just keep an eye out for blood and flesh showing as chickens can become real nasty.

 

It's called pecking order...
