Great Whites of British coasts.

Recommended Posts

After having read of a Blue Shark that had been found washed up on the Isle of Lewis last week see: http://www.hebrides-news.com/blue-shark-on-lewis-5911.html I started reading on the sightings of great whites seen/ supposedly seen off the coast of Great Britain. A lot of these sightings are even from around the Western Isles which is food for thought. What do you guys reckon?

As a footnote l thought this articles made interesting reading: http://www.wildlifeonline.me.uk/british_carcharodon.html

the water temp in summer is perfect for them and plenty of food, so more than likely, if they are here then they will have been here for hundreds of years. personally i like sharks so it wouldnt bother me in the slightest.

No reason why they wont come to our southern shores during the summer.

I concour :D Don't see why the odd one or two wouldn't venture into our waters occasionally, i went swimming off Rottnest island in Western Australia and was fine until i remembered the canoe hung up in the seaford diner the night beofre with huge bite marks and the newspaper clippings of the great white attack, after that paranoia set in and every shadow in the sea was jaws wanting a nibble on me........

whats the new ferry like as good as the old one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7NB-bN-ns4 good sea boat that one :cray:

Was actually on the Suilven in '93 l think it was coming home from a primary school trip in similar weather and about 90% of the passengers and some of the crew were sea sick and we nippers who weren't seasick had to run around with sick bags for everyone. Great fun at the time and we never thought of the danger at all and the 10% of the passengers that were not sea sick apart from my mates and l were boozers at the bar lol

cheers Callum
