Guest dig deep
cn jack is supposed to be a good dog, i dont think a man like cn would keep anything that wasnt decent, top chalker would be able to tell you more about him tho I was out with 'Jack' a few month back and CN said he hadn't ran for a while so just to give him a few runs and he took 2 out of 2, second being a ridiculous slip which i didn't think he had any chance on, but.... i was well impressed. Running a few of his young un's on this week so i'll see how they get on. been out with 'jack' and 'casper', however even though 'casper' is about 5 years older i would say he is a better hare dog. hopefully well be out with them soon again stevo  see how 'blue' compares Quote Link to post
baz 464
i think marcus parish bought her after she won the forley cup, dont know if she is still about......but i know she definatley started throwing the towel in...its a shame because she looked dynamite behind a hare Quote Link to post
chester 147
thanks for sticking the pics up for us have you got pics of meg Quote Link to post
snoopdog 1,256
i have to agree with you there baz i could watch a dog like her all day ...i suppose its one of them things baz its a fecking shame ....i wonder if she was ever lined.... Quote Link to post
baz 464
if she has stay well clear of them ......the lucky strain is renowed for jacking..not many coursing lads will touch a dog with that blood in them.....they can run as good as tina , lucky , and then one day just pull up Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
Only these old scanned ones mate. Meg is on the left in the second pic. what do you think makes them like that Baz do you think its the "cleverness" in them and one day they just decide to quit? Lucky was always one of my favorite dogs to watch on tape, really wise, clever, knew how to keep a hare off its planned escape route, keeping it away from woods, hedges etc, really knew how to use its brain, maybe that was the problem? its a shame when a good dog goes like that Quote Link to post
snoopdog 1,256
it makes you wonder why they jack is it because they are started to young and lose that keeness ..running them with injuries ...doing to much with them i.e. three and fiour times aweek ..or do the clever dogs get to clever....it maskes you wonder it could be any of those i suppose .....iam not thinking about that breeding anywat baz she just impressed me a lot .... Guest SJM
I would be inclined to think its the latter snoop, dont know if my theory is right but I have seen a few dogs that have been run from the age of 10 11 months and were keen from the first day til the last day, right throuigh their lives Ive also seen dogs that would run through the pain barrier if they got injured. The bitch in the bottom pic on the right was a 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhound and she was about 6 when I saw her run, most of the toes on her front feet were smashed up, she had feet like a bag of chisels, but there was something about that bitch that she could run through the pain barrier when a hare got up. She gave it 100% on every run and never gave up, when you looked at the state of her feet you wondered how she could do it must just be something thats in certain dogs that they want to do it and clever dogs can get too clever and think they are better than chasing hares and thats when they give up, or start messing, pulling up not giving it their all etc. The bitch on the right got killed on the motorway what a sad end to a decent dog Quote Link to post
baz 464
i couldn,t tell you why they jack .....could be any of the reasons you gave, could be lack of heart or the desire to kill has gone..you never know ..they might be bored of killing them Quote Link to post
snoopdog 1,256
i wouldnt say that they are better then hares but would be inclined to think that they will pull up because they know its going to be a hard course amd maybe they think the next one will be easier but like you say beingh the cleverest dog isnt always a good thing.. perhaps a bit smaller brain and a bigger heart is the better animal .....even tho it might make its job harder than what it should be it never jacks ....
