saxosportsaxo 2
Hi All I'm looking to buy a hushpower for some crow and pigeon shooting around the farm. The reason for the hushpower is to keep the volume down around the animals that reside in the shed over the winter. I love my vermin shooting but i don't want to risk an animal slipping down in the yard and having to be destroyed...! Now the big question....... What is the best calibre? 20 or 12 gauge? I know the 410 is available but i read that its not the best for crows etc. Please help me with this as i can't decide what my best option is??? Thanks in advance Quote Link to post
markha 99
12g carts are cheaper than 20g, Eley do subsonic hushpower cartridges in 12, 20 and 410. I agree 410 not greatest for feather but better on fur. My girlfriend shoots a 20g far better than I shoot a 12g! ah well, Least she's not in to rifles or Id be stuffed Quote Link to post
saxosportsaxo 2
lol... thanks for the feedback I am swayed towards the 12g as my other shotguns are all 12 so it would be a good idea to keep it all the same... But if the 20g is alot quieter then i would go that way.... ! Quote Link to post
stroller 341
ive just bought a baikal 410 hushpower. with normal loads its not remarkably quiet ive yet to try the sub sonic loads Quote Link to post
jackinbox99 41
Ive the .410 and with the subsonic loads out in the middle of a field it is very quiet. Anyone some distance away would not be hearing a thing. In hindside I do wish sometimes id have gone for the 12g version as at the time they used to give away both the hushpower barrell and a normal barrel with them - so you get 2 guns in 1. I think they dont do this any more. It would also give me the flexibility of using just normal 12g cartridges if i wanted. The .410 version is a cracking little gun though , although the mossberg hushpowers in general are very long guns! Quote Link to post
