locator collar and young ferret advice wanted

having trouble getting the collar on ma young jills, anyone any ideas of the best way to get it on, they are rather jumpy when i try and put it on, i am just wanting them to get used to it before i start them out, also would i be able to put a jill down without a collar and if she does not appear send down my hob with a collar on and see if he can find her, i used to ferret years ago and never used locators never had any problems then, but it seems now adays every body is using collars.

a easy way i found was to put the collar on when they were having a drink of (goats) milk. then just let them run round for a while with it on. after a while they accept it no bother and just handle them as much as you can.

It's funny, eventually they are fine with it because they know what it means, as said, distract them with something tasty.

Just keep trying, they will let you in the end, and after they find out what it means to wear a collar, they will put their own collars on when they see your carry box coming

set the collar a little bigger than the ferrets neck and then just slip it over its head then adjust it to the ferrets neck hope that helps DM

scruff them between finger and thumb and have someone put the collar on, if alone do as diggermad suggests
