wabbit slayer 16
This may sound daft to some of you but been thinking about maybe having may barrel shortened on my Brno 2e bolt action 22rf. But at what point on the rifle do they measure from to come up with a 14" or 16" barrel. And before anyone askes no im not doing it myself. Thanks Quote Link to post
raynardman 519
Wouldn't do it mate you'll lose your rate of twist Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Hi mate, they will measure from the start of the chamber, not a problem my anchutz has 14" barrel and with eley subs will shoot cloverleaf groups at 50 yds,I would deffo have it done, get it cut to 14" mate and a good recrown job. dadioles 68
Wouldn't do it mate you'll lose your rate of twist It will not have any effect on the rate of twist. Have it done. There is no practical advantage to having a longer barrel. Quote Link to post
The one 8,594
Aye a longer barrel plus silencers a pain shotting out a motor Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
The LR burns all its powder in the first dozen or so inches of the barrel. Extra length can help with stability of the rifle, but will make little difference to the flight of the bullet. Quote Link to post
markha 99
As above, get it shortened, measurements of a barrel are the barrel incuding the throat. As above, twist unaffected unless your barrel is chopped shorter than the twist rate so even if its one revolution of rifling in 9" you could still have a barrel of 9" to keep the twist, or 12" or whatever etc. Get a recessed crown done and rethread for mod, job done and enjoy Quote Link to post
