air gun ant 1,666
How are you hooking your bait? What size hooks? And how are you fishing it? Eg freelining, controller float or anchored floater? Quote Link to post

LUMPHAMMER 324
Size 6 hook with a big piece of ''Bloomers loaf'' from greg's always works for me in the summer just as the sun is going down, pull a big piece out maybe the size of average size cake & push the hook through it then pull it back onto the bread[Dont squash the bread completely or it will sink] ,make sure your line is floating & as the fish takes it wait for the line to go into the water before you strike Edited August 18, 2011 by LUMPHAMMER Quote Link to post
tophunter22 10
i got an old fella i know who is good at tying flies for fly fishing to make me some flies out of deer hair in the shape of dog mixers , there were great so i start to catch carp off the top with my fly rod . its the best way now for me , my biggest carp so far is 20.4lb Quote Link to post

WILF 51,028
Use cork..........cut and shape like a mixer. A size 6 with a decent gape and streight point, short hair (knotless knot style) or tie to the eye with mono. 5-6 foot trace of double strength, greased with vas or muscilin (thin coat) Make sure you keep mending your line to keep the trace streight to the bubble float or controller. (i prefer clear bubble float) Using cork, if they strike at the bait it wont come off and they will come back for another go.....this set up is pretty much self hooking anyway, so you will know when they have got it. Had hundreds of carp off the top to 30lbs using this set up. All the best Edited August 23, 2011 by WILF Quote Link to post
sweeper1gg 4
Hi mate, It sounds like you need a controler float to set the hook, try the Korda inline controller, it acts like a bolt rig so it sets the hook. Also use a size 6 korda mixa hook tied using a knotless knot and use a d rig. 4-6ft hook lenght tied to floating line (Korda floating line is good). However, instead of tieing your bait onto the D, use a Rigmarole bore ring, you just scew your bait into it and away you go. Hope this helps Quote Link to post
Plong 21
Sounds like your striking either too soon or too late, controller floats are only used as casting weight if you fishing close in your better off not using one. The only other thing it could be is using too big a bait on too small a hook. Quote Link to post
