Britishbull24 131
Hey all, I want to apply for my FAC as iv just got a fair bit of permission with alot of rabbits and foxes about. I hunt with an air rifle at the minute but obviously its just not cutting the mustard. The problem is im not really interested in having a shot gun, Im not into clay shooting ect. And im sure the land owner wouldnt want me blasting away untill all hours. So what im asking is what are my chances of getting an FAC without already having my SGC. And im guessing appying for Centre Fire is definately out of the question for a year or 2. But do you think ill get away with applying for a Rimfire? Any advice would be much appriciated cheers guys. lapin2008 1,587
I got my FAC a couple of years before SGC, I think people tend to get them the other way round as it is a bit easier to get SGC than FAC but either order should be fine Quote Link to post
JonathanL 4
You don't need to get one before the other and having an SGC doesn't actually make it easier to get an FAC - although a SGC is slightly easier to get, I suppose. All you need is to fit the criteria in the Act for the issue of an FAC, the most important of those criteria being 'good reason' to posess each firearm you apply for. There is also no real reason as to why you should not have a centre-fire firearm if it reasonable for the purpose to which you want to put it. If you are shooting foxes I can't see a problem in getting authority for a centre-fire rifle. J. Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
Hi sounds like u have good enough reason for both rim fire and centrefire I put down about for .22 .17 .223 and 22-250. Thought they would decide what I was allowed and to my supprise all the lot.this was a few years ago so things may have changed. I've Only gone as far as the two rimmys and the.223 as it suits my every need, put in for what u need explain to ur feo and state ur reasons clearly u don't use a toffee hammer for. knocking fence posts in. If u need a centrefire as well as rimfire apply and you may be atb rich Quote Link to post
Britishbull24 131
Thanks for the advice guys, i suppose i should just apply, They can only say no! Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
As above, just apply. Really can't see the problem, you have a genuine need for firearms and therefore require an FAC. So long as your record is clean you have what is needed, permission and good reason. Quote Link to post

It seemed that as I was already an FAC holder, the police treated my sgc application as a formality. To date, they still haven't followed up by taking the reference offered. Cheers Duncan.
