both will be ok they mainly scratch at it, not eat it

Don't use cuprinol. It's shite. And I used hammerite on mine and the ferret chewed at a bubble and got paint on his face. The box is now sawn up and used as a litter tray haha

i used sikkens oil based stain for my hutch and box its stoping the penitration of piss so far good stuff but its not cheap.

I use the sikkens gear on my boxes, (2part varnish). You are not wrong about being expensive £20 a litre for the base coat and £24 a litre for the top coat but it is good gear.

 

Edited, sikkens is not a varnish but a microporous wood stain

Your right ! sikkens isnt a varnish, it is a microporous wood stain and imo is a lot better than most varnishes available. I apologise for missinforming but without being ANAL like yourself i was trying to offer constructive input, however wrong.
