Anderw 0
I’ve been out of the game for over 15 years due to work commitments, however my circumstances now allow me to return to the dark windy nights and cold crispy mornings of rabbiting. I am looking for a collie / greyhound or a collie /greyhound X whippet. Ideally a pup but I would consider a young adult after a trial. It needs to be a bitch and black in colour [that’s just to keep my family happy] I am willing to travel and pay £250-300 for the right dog. Any genuine contacts would be appreciated I used to do a lot rabbiting years ago and used collie / greyhound x whippets and bedlington / greyhound x whippets . I always found the Belington cross hard mouthed and marked the rabbits , yet there seems to be a lot bull crosses these days. What are they like ? Attached a photo of my old dogs after a days ferreting with the dogs catching. Both these dogs are long dead and I am a lot greyer and heavier. Edited July 22, 2011 by Anderw Quote Link to post

NEWKID 28,582
Hi mate I'm similar to you came back into it after a long lay off, got myself a 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy and she's coming on fine. Only 13mnths old but had a few on the lamp and has worked with the ferrets. She's got a good nose on her and works well with my jack russel. I'm pleased with progress dead easy to own and an ideal rabbiting dog. Been out with a mates bull x, It's a cracking dog but in my opinion not something I would pick for rabbits, he catches them ok but it aint really his thing. That's the only on I've seen work though so others could probably give you more advice on them, we used to run collie x and other bitza lurchers before and most could turn there hand to rabbiting, as you know, I think it's just personal preference really. Good luck with your choice mate. Quote Link to post
