We give foreign aid to emerging superpowers like India & China so that in return they'll use our established companies in industry & their knowledge for their projects & therefore invest billions. It's not coincidence that the huge engineering projects going on in these countries (Dams, bridges, etc) are often designed and overseen by British architects & engineers.
