First Outing With New Gun

Recommended Posts

Well after getting my BSA Super 10 Bull Barrel Carbine set up and zeroed in I decided to have an hour or two at the rabbit permission. I had to dry the tent out after a soaking during an aborted hunting trip with the .22 on Saturday (the torrential rain made me give up, I still have not bought a harpoon gun). I managed to zero the gun in on Saturday though...

Going down to the permission along the track I noticed a few rabbits grazine in the afternoon sun, trouble was I was fully loaded down, so I edged to the side of the track, I got the bag off my back (containing the air cylinder camera etc), put the tent down, got the gun out of the gun bag and a rabbit was still sat there watching me! I could not believe it, perhaps it was waiting for me to produce a person out of a hat. Anyway I managed to get knelt down with Bugs still giving me the wary eye.

I lined up and got it with a head shot, the back legs were still twitching a bit when I got to it, so I gave it another one to make sure! I was pleased with that one, so I picked it up, got down the track, pitched the tent and sorted it out so it could dry. I then decided to have a little stalk round, got a couple of small kits and carried on round. I noticed that the cherry trees were nice and heavy with fruit and a fair few were ripe. So I put the gun down and got a couple of pounds of cherries. Very nice, main course and dessert from the same permission!

Anyway here is a photo of the catch, that is tomorrow night's dinner...

I was not meant to give up the X2, but when someone has your dream rifle in the same calibre, brand new, in the box, still with manufacturers warranty, what can you do? I did not mean to give in, but I did! I blame Mary talking to me about it on the way home. Adding some new ones to the collection though, Mary got a nice BSA Supersport carbine with a gas ram in it...
