a neighbour of mine last night from 10 to 10 untill 11 o clock counted 136 bats leaving throuhg a small hole in the roof of his house, now he wants rid of them from his attic. Do i contact the local wildlife services, do i wait untill 2 in the morning and block the hole but then there will some blocken in, do i go up during the day and catch them then block the hole and let them off outside?????? this is a first for me so i need some tips

bats and bat roosts are prtected and you are risking prosecution if you tamper with either.you can be fined up to £5000 for each bat you kill.

You need to speak to english nature or your local bat society how will give you advice.

nobody knows they are there except me and my neighbour so fines will not be an issue.

i just want to know how to get rid of them out of the attic without them been hurn as he will have no problem removing them with force.

Did you not read the previous posts bats are a protected species for a reason they have obviously been there fore years without any problems. Now you have posted it online the whole world knows they are there.

.no one knows they are there ..are you 2 houses in the middle of the moon? ...your local bat society will know they are there..disturb them and you are looking at a huge fine and possibly a jail sentence ..get in touch with your local bat society and they'll give you tips on how to encourage them to move on and depending on the species there is maybe nothing you can do

Personally I'd leave well alone unless you have plenty of time and money to spare ;)

leave them alone til winter , most bats have summer roosts, (roof) and winter roost(dead tree)if you check they are not there in winter and then block up the hole , there won,t be a problem, personnaly i have lived in houses with summer bat roosts and have never worried about them
