On what age would you start working them at hunt season not till september but still like to know. As much info as possible. Thank you kev

Whatever age they happen to be in September bud,,

I get them out in there first year. Start em young.

You should know your kits are the mature enough ,do the have the size body frame ?? If they are give them a couple of hours or a shot in a small burrow and see how they fair

They only 9 weeks old at moment. 2 small jills. Both look very stonge. For age

I usually give them till six months at least, or sometimes longer (especially hobs), until they are nice and settled and stopped being babyish and playing about. I know it's different if you have new kits and are itching to get going, but as i'm not in that position i never rush. I might take them a long in the box to get used to that etc, but i like them to be at that age when they first enter a warren, that they can handle it well and get instant early success, rather than being a bit overwhelmed. Just my opinion.

Ive always held my kits back and did little and often with them ,then last year i was short of working ferrets and the kits got free rein with the adult jills from five months and big 50 /70 holers they soon turned into good honest reliable workers and i was looking foreword to trying those burrows this year with them being adults but a new tenant farmers filled them in
