HUNTER91 1
As i recently told some members when i joined the forum, im a 19 year old young lad and since leaving college after doing a 2 year sports coaching course ive found it very hard to gain employment, constantly being told that companys are wanting people with experience, i find it funny that they say this, as once the breed of knowledgable employees has retired what are they expecting to replace it. I've always loved being involved with the wildlife and hunting side of things and only recently discovered that apprenticeships where available. Does anybody have any idea where in the county durham area may do apprenticeships or courses with gamekeeping etc.. ? Any help would be greatly appreciated !!! Thanks Alot Hunter91 Quote Link to post
danw 1,748
simple facts if you thought it hard to get employed with the qualifications you have now take a course in keeping then see just how hard it is to get a job, I know for jobs that have had over 500 applicants and that is for underkeeper positions I guarantee you this there will be lads on those courses that have lived/breathed keeping since they could walk and will still struggle to get a job. Sounds harsh I know but the job prospects for keepers at the moment is not good and that's putting it lightly if you peruse it good luck but please don't let the colleges bullshit you about job prospects once you've left. ATB Dan I wouldnt disagree with any word spoken there mate, your absolutely right abou the colleges giving people false hopes almost promising employment at every oppertunity and then letting people down. I just knew a mate of mine got the oppertunity when he left school and loved it, he was in payed accomodation and was given a terrier. He said he had never learnt so much in his life and loved every second of it. Somewhere in scotland i think mate. Quote Link to post
PatterJack 11
This isnt aimed at just you alone, but i see alot of lads on here asking for info on colleges and asking for jobs. If you cant do a simple search on the internet and find out for yourself or make a few phone calls then it doesnt really look that great. Im all for helping out young lads but there must be 100 different topics in this section asking pretty much the same question and it gets a bit tedious reading posts from lads expecting college courses and jobs just turn up out of nowhere.
