Best race i seen was 92 , Steve Hislop and Carl Fogarty , Hislop eventually won the Race but Fogarty broke the lap record tryin to catch him , they where on the edge that day ! I worked for Padgett's in the mid 90's and they had both Foggy's 851 (888) and Hizzy's OWO1 and also Dave Leach's proddy ( ) FZR1000. I rode the OWO1 around their car park one day but Leach's FZR was road legal. I wanted to buy the bike from them but they wanted silly money for it. One bloke did buy it one day and I blagged the job of PDI ing it What a bike!! Not like any ordinary FZR, not by a long way. Made the Blades of the time feel like tanks!! Peter ran the show on paper but Clive was the driving force really. A total pain to work for but I can't take anything away from his passion for racing. He was a proper class racer himself in his day before the accident that wrecked his arm. He beat Sheene more often than not when they raced

Yammy OWO1 brings back some memories Andy! remember wanting one of them as soon as I clapped eyes on one . a Pal had a FZR1000EXUP a good few years ago which had been tweaked here and there, he also before that had a GSX1100. I rode the GSR and went on the back of both bikes but have to say the EXUP was pretty lethal. Another bike that would of gargled piss for many years ago was the Yammy RD500, what a 2 stroke monster .......

Another bike that would of gargled piss for many years ago was the Yammy RD500, what a 2 stroke monster ....... This FZR was pre EXUP, Jasper. It was supplied directly to Padgett's from Yamaha's R and D under strict instuctions that NO ONE messed about with it other than final set up tweaks. The bike was a hand built one off, still within production bike rules but every single bit was perfect, matched and balenced. It did 118mph lap in 1988 (I think...) on those decidedly below average Michalin 59 series tyres. The bike was then left idle for a few years then they decided to put road kit on it and put it up for sale. In spite of it's age it would put EXUPs and Blades to shame, it really was something special. I delivered it to a bloke in Otley, I'd love to know what happened to it 'cos I'd buy the fecker in a flash!!
