Actually what Mole did was to contact the farmer with fields next door to his existing permission and asked if he could shoot rabbits on that bit of his land. Farmer said, there are not many rabbits there (??? quarter of an acre of beet denuded and same with the wheat field), I need your help down at the riverbank, hundreds of the damned things, they are out of control! By the way I will also have a word with the big farming concern that rents some of my land, they have shooting rights on over 10,000 acres! Might be some more rabbit problems you can help with! The upshot is I now have a good woodland area for rabbits and pigeons. That is all I will be allowed to shoot on my new expansion. Thing is I might have got a shoe in to 10,000 acres (new boots, new boots), which is a hell of a leap up from total permission of about 70 acres at the moment! Quote Link to post

He reports a real problem in the river bank area, so will hit there for him. I am not looking for any more permissions now, I have got my fill! Actually having a word with some of the owners for Ron, they will let him on no trouble, so I get some permissions near where I live and Ron gets some gunning near where he works! Ok with you Ron? Sorry mate, i was meaning the 10,000 or whatever It's the problem when you have an area and are doing a good job and get new areas and need to do a good job there without stopping doing a good job on the first bit and so it goes, until there just isn't enough hours in the day Well done tho Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Well will have a word with Charlie, Henry and Keith (Charlie and Henry have the big permission and Kaith has the small one adjacent to it), see if we can get you in there, but leave those cherries alone!!!! But the number of adults and kits on the permissions means we can be at either end and gunning like maniacs, but the nature of the permission means they are reproducing like photocopiers on steroids! There is a variety of fields, cereal, sugar beet, oil seed rape, grazing and fallow, cover, ditches, woodlands, brambles, nettles, a variety of roosts from cables to trees as well as some permission owners with go anywhere attitudes, just mind the animals (the horses are damned nosey) and I know where all the small buns will be going! Rake aboot 4,936 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 10,000 acres is an estate sized bit of ground,, and a full time job !! be carefull what you take on as it`s easy to say yes I`ll do it,, but not so easy to explain why you can`t keep up with it,, It depends on the ground,, but for pest control on 10.000 acres ,,My rimfire,,shotgun,and centrefires would be on full chat keeping it all done,, lot of work for an airgun Mike! secretagentmole 1,701 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Ah, I got that bit a bit wrong, what has happened is friendly farmer retires, farming concern who farm over 10,000 acres rent the ground. He is seeking permission for me to shoot pests on the fields he owns as I think he is responsible for controlling pests, but I have got permission on the flood protection bank and the woodland near the sewage works... So friendly airgunner asks if he can shoot rabbits and pigeons and is warmly welcomed. Farmer says there will be no problem as I am old enough and responsible enough for him to approve me and I get the go ahead! He did say though if we do a good job we might get asked to go to other pieces of land they farm! I would respectfully decline at that point methinks or see if we can get a hunting concern together through THL to help! Edited June 20, 2011 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
