I read some were that they shouldnt be fed more than once a fortnight as it thickens the asophagus(excuse the spelling and I think thats waht it thickens might be wrong but it thickens something wich stops them eating) and can result in starving to death as they are unable to swallow.

Yer these are different though, they are sold for feeding snakes and falcons, so not going to be anything to worry about like that.

Bloody hell, doesn't sound handy. Anyone else agree with this?

Same as others have said. If fed too often the feathers could damage the oesophagus. Inflammation/irritation/difficulty swallowing etc. Ever swallowed a tablet and had it scrape down your throat? Pretty much the same effect. Problem is if that the feathers do cause abrasions to the oesophagus and then raw meat is fed, infection is also a possibility.

Chicks are basically a yolk with fluff, legs and a beak, so no real nutritional value for ferrets.

The feathers won't get rid of worms!!

A friend of mine feeds the ferrets with chicks most days and they are all fine (fat and lazy, but no coughing or any apparent trouble eating judging by the size of them!!!) Some people swear by feeding chicks and others wouldn't touch them with a bargepole....

Saying that, I'm getting some and will feed mine with them every now and then just as something different to keep them entertained.
