A monstrosity and a tale that sums up everything that's wrong with the KC

Recommended Posts

A lad I work with bought a pedigree bulldog last year for £1500....when he went to the breeder to have a look at it he asked to see both parents and the breeder could only show him the sire because the dam have died on a walk 2 weeks previously, it was 7 years old and died of suffocation, just from walking, not even running, walking! He bought the dog anyway! It confused me at the time because I couldn't understand how anyone could spend that amount of money on a dog that probably...no, certainly won't live that long. The reason became apparent later on.

He takes it for a walk every lunchtime and one day I went with him, I'm not joking we walked for an absolute maximum of 20 meters on the green outside his house and this thing was absolutely exhausted. We walked back slowly and it was gasping for air, it literally flopped down when we got back to his house. The dog is 11 months old, same age as my lurcher who is almost impossible to tire out, I was horrified!

Anyway, last week he was saying he can breed it from next month because it'll be a year old and he's already got three people with female bulldogs waiting to use it as stud and willing to pay considerable stud fees. It is absolute disgusting, the motivation is 110% money, absolutely no consideration for health or condition of the dog. All three of these people have not seen his dog or asked any questions whatsoever about it, all they know is it's a 12 month old bulldog. But when people are buying pups for £1500 plus a litter of 5 or 6 pups is a pretty healthy profit, I can't think of anything worse than having a dog so physically handicapped from birth and for the rest of its life. How these breeders and show people can look at a bulldog and think it's somehow an impressive specimen is completely beyond me!

update on this dog....barely 18 months down the line and he's just taken it into the vets, it's eyes are rolling back into its head, it's frothing at the mouth and having seizures, shocking! 2 and a half year old dog!

i just read the first page and now your update ffs it was weezing and couldnt walk a few yards as a pup and now at just over 2yrs old it having seizures why would anyone want a dog like that :icon_eek:

Christ knows! they should be banned, and the fact he had people queuing up to breed from this thing speaks volumes! thankfully he never did, but I bet you any money most of his litter mates have put a few litters out already!! outrageous!

Thing is who's got the dosh to be splashing out £1500/£2000 on a pup these days??! Crazy if you ask me...only ever seen two well bred bulldogs one was my aunties that would walk for miles and died at the age of 11, and the other lives on my estate here big beast of a dog his owner has him all over and no wheezing....get the dodgy breeders in the papers and infront of the RSPCA and it'll stop
