Malt 379
When I say that I mean people who have supported them before they hit the big time, and not just when they're winning. Like yourself, a fan of a club who supports it through thick and thin. No i knew what you meant Malt...i was just saying even the " real " Chelsea fans barely know where Chelsea is.....its alright i just like to attack that club any chance i get It's funny. I knew a Londoner who always said was a keen Fulham fan. As soon as Abramovich appeared with his roubles, he started wearing a Chelsea top to the pub to watch matches.. As soon as Abramovich appeared with his roubles, he started wearing a Chelsea top to the pub to watch matches.. Its a bunch of bollocks if you ask me,and totally against the rules of football supporters.....but you will get Chelsea fans who follow Fulham as well......considering you only need to walk out of Stamford Bridge down the Kings Rd and your at Fulhams ground there is virtually no rivalry between them whatsoever......its because its a toffs area.....Chelsea have a far bigger rivalry with Spurs,West Ham and Millwall than they do Fulham.....and Fulham have a bigger rivalry with QPR than with Chelsea.......so its not unusual for a Chelsea fan to have a Fulham shirt tucked away in the back of his wardrobe.....just wrong innit
jasper65 6
you do get the impresion that Abramovich has a say in the team sheet and the running of the team . any manager should be left to do his job! Manage? somehow I don't think the last few managers at chelsea have been allowed to genuinly do that? it also seems Abramovich picks who he wants when it comes to transfers.... martin 332
I am from the West country, but,I was a season ticket holder for a lot of years so I think I do fit the criterea of a 'Real' fan. As far as who I want to take over, well it would have to be Hiddink, and to be partnered by Zola to help him into a position to take over the reins at some point. Martin p.s. as far as the prem is concerned there aren't many teams now that aren't owned by someone like Abramovich....fact
gnasher16 31,602
p.s. as far as the prem is concerned there aren't many teams now that aren't owned by someone like Abramovich....fact I disagree.....theres a difference between an owner who wants to make a few quid on a profitable hobby/interest.....to an owner who wants to make money, pick the team, choose who to buy and generally do whatever he sees fit in a world he knows nothing about. Take my West Ham for instance ok we now have owners who own the majority of the club who are rich buisenesmen....but they dont have that kind of wealth and are certainly not billionaires, they are local boys done good, one of who played the game, who started with nothing in extreme poverty and has a genuine affection for their local club and being in the position they were could not stand by and watch the club go to the dogs.....i admire that.....i certainly dont admire the likes of Abramovich or the Man City lot who barely knew the shape of a football a few years ago and are here purely for the power and reward they can make from the game. WILF 50,716
The russian should have a look at what I consider are the top 2 clubs in the country and see how often they have changed manager in the last 10 or 15 years

What would make you say that mate ?...because they havent won anything for 5 years ? in historical terms 5 years is a blink of an eye....they have a massive tradition and history, have been in the top flight of English football longer than any other club, have won nearly as much honours as any other club, have possibly the most fantastic ground in Europe, have a huge following, are in no real debt, and continue to get European football every year. Chelsea are a sunday league club in comparison. Edited May 25, 2011 by gnasher16

Agree, 5 yrs isnt long but they aren't real contenders any longer and unless yer man sorts his goalkeeping dilemma out then I cant see them being either. JMO

JMO In the top flight continuosly yes....Everton have spent more seasons in the top flight and are a slightly older club but as an uninterrupted period in top flight football Arsenal are the longest by a long way....infact i think Arsenal are pretty much double what any other club has done. Goalkeeper ....your point was they are not a great club.....have a look at their history, ground, following, level they continue to compete at etc etc......not a great team over the last few years no ( although still within the best 4 in England )....but a great club no doubt about it Edited May 28, 2011 by gnasher16
