welshwhippet 1
Came back from a walk last Friday and noticed that my whippet has a small puncture wound in the skin between his toe pad and the big pad on his foot which is no more than a couple of mm wide when opened. I have been cleaning it twice a day and it doesn't look as if there is any infection in it and does not seem to bother him. Have tried to superglue it together but will not stay on and just peels off. Is there anything else I could try to help it heel or is it best to pay a visit to the vet? Thanks for any advice given Edited May 17, 2011 by welshwhippet Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
Leave it as it is. Don't try and glue or cover up puncture wounds. Just keep it clean and don't take the dog anywhere where it can get mud in it. It should heal fine if there's no infection. It needs to heal from the inside out so don't expect it to close over like a small cut: it will gradually fill up with new tissue. Quote Link to post

runforyourlife 361
Dont worry mate, it will heal. And be ready for a few more where that one came from.. Working dogs are bound to get cuts, rips and tears.. Always keep them clean, and get yourself a stapler gun.. Quote Link to post
