secretagentmole 1,701
As you may or may not know, My Hatsan AT44-W10 has been sold to fund the purchase of the wife's next gun. In return I have been given her Daystate X2 (Well what would you do in a situation like that???). This required setting up and as I did not want to spend the morning watching Wate and Kills, I decided to be off to the permission and get this beastie set up as my pigeon permission should be running in a couple of weeks! Dr Syn (named in honour of the Hatsan and a lovely railway engine). Set up and tried to target an empty Pepsi can at 35 metres, could not hit it! pellets falling everywhere round! So I got out my trusted bipod box and a tin of .22 pellets as ballast (put tin of pellets in and stood box up). Scope set up 2 inches high and to the right! Scope zeroed up and the following photo is a 10 pellet group! Getting better! Needed a little tickle up and left but I got it set up for me and proceeded to play with the aforementioned Pepsi tin, at 60 metres this time. The Hawke Map Pro scope is a belter. Optics adjusted for approx 60 metres, lined up on the marks on the reticle and blast I hit it. Ok my grouping on this is not so good, but this is basically double the distance I have been used to shooting before! The Target This is not very good grouping I know, but this was 60 metres and it was a bit gusty, so I feel glad I was able to hit it. I have to practise more at the 60 metre range. I was aiming at the Pepsi globe symbol. I am gradually getting better. The Distance. After all my clattering about setting up targets etc the adults decided that today was not the day to play. So as I waited for the ceremony to finish and the coverage to stop (some chance) I would do as requested and take a few kits out. Having had a go at various ranges with the scope I was happy to bag minibuns to a maximum 45 metre distance. I was surprised to find that the darned pellets were going through them! I dropped 4 on the track and 4 on the ditch edges, I am not ploughing through 3 foot high nettles and brambles to get kits out, if requested I will post a photo of the 4 from the track, but unless they were full sized they were not coming out of that ditch!!!! Kit hunting is not fun, but something I am asked to do in return for permission. There are plenty of kits this year though so I feel I am not really harming anything down there. So now the X2 is ready and waiting for the opportunity to get out again. Edited to say the thread should read Dr Syn, not Dr Dyn! Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,589
Lovely looking rifle moley. Well done on the purchase You have a Hawke scope with it. You really want to have a calibration profile set up for it on Chairgun. If you put accurate information into it, it will really return amazing results downrange. Looking forward to reading more from you with this rifle. All the best. Simon Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Using Hawke BRC Simon, gives some good information especially for the MAP 6 reticle. I really am going to have to get on the back end for the permission and practise shooting paper and the given ranges that it gives. I will have a look at the Chairgun software as well! Daz, I give the things I like names that I like. Simple. Dry Syn seems to fit it, Dr Syn being a vicar turned sumggler as well as as this... Small but perfectly formed...
