gurtwurz 793
hi lads, me and jax were at a loose end after the rare breeds show we were going to had decided to refuse entrance to dogs(by which i mean charley the JRT not jax...) so we decided to go and have a little bit of target practice with the springer(me) and a bit of static hunting with the hw100kt on the bipod(jax) at the other end of the field, which is just up the road from me, and usually spot on for a bit of both. well i got jax set up in the hedge, about 25-30m from the main warren, and left her fully camo'd up in her red check shirt and black jeans, but using the gun bag to obscure her from view a bit. i shot off to the other end of the field where i can use the railway embankment behind the hedge as a backstop, set up a knockdown with a 15mm target and got myself down to some serious,if quite frankly rubbish target practice which resulted in me realising i needed to rezero the scope, and enlarge the target to an inch cos i was having a bad day, trying to get used to a new bsa essential 3-9x40scope thats replaced the hawke eclipse 3-9x50 that was on it before.the scope will go on the stutzen when it gets here(hopefully next week! yee ha!!). my mobile suddenly went off and i found a very irate jax on the other end- she'd spent 10 minutes with a good sized doe in view, waiting for it to leave the hedgerow far enough to present a good shot, and once it gave her the chance, she took it and caught it just behind the eye at about 25m, bang on the zero. the rabbit did a neat somersault which prompted the fox, previously unseen by jax, to burst out of the hedge straight over to the now dead rabbit and pick it up in a manner usually performed by labradours on pheasant shoots, the only difference being that the fox stopped to look at jax, as if to either say thank you(or you)before doing a runner with the evenings intended bar-b-que treat... i had to try really hard not to laugh as she told me her tale of woe... she got a buck about 25 minutes later so all was not lost after all. sorry, theres no pictures but the lappy wont accept them from my phone now, and she was too flabberghasted at the cheek of charley to get any... bit of a long winded story i know, but it made me laugh... cheers, wurz 2 Quote Link to post
