What type of dogs have you owned?

over the years iv had a mix of everything, never had a bull x tho but seen a good few run, just now iv got my first cross beardie/greyhound, a heinz and a whippet pup, why you asking what im running?

id have thought that either of these 3 crosses were well capable of taking the odd fox every now and then if they were game enough but obviously not though eh ... not a dig mate just saying

he asked for a dog that could do a bit of everything and my dogs are far from hare dogs what you running or is it just your mouth

im with rocky on this one and can only offer my opinion from pre ban experience. most crosses will have a go at all that you mention, to give the dog an advantage a bit of height and strength will be a big help for your bigger quarry, yet you need it handy enough to do consistant rabbit. a 3/4 grey 1/4 wheaton ive seen do it all very well, likewise a 3/4 beddy hound. a deerhound greyhound back to a bedlington greyhound was a demon at all quarry and has good height and strength. 3/4hound 1/4 bull was ok at the latter two you mention but not great at rabbit and hare. just a few crosses ive worked at all four. rocky's cross sound spot on as allrounders aswell. about 24/25tts and racey, my idea of all round worker. atb.

Would a saluki/grey x colie/grey be a good all rounder ?

namely for use on rabbit, hare fox and fallow deer ? pre ban ofcourse. I dont have a lurcher but wondered what this corss would be like :)

i know there will be lads that will strongly disagee with me but id class that cross as a bit soft for fox, id put deerhound, beddy or wheaton in there someplace. atb.

ive had a few deer greyx bed grey took rabbit and hare a plenty didnt want out to do with the rest a saluki grey great rabbit hare deer but couldnt break to sheep ended up getting shot and a salukigrey collie grey again rabbit hare deer but wouldnt go near fox so now down to nothing now have a few ideas but its finding right stuff looking towards bull x or wheaton x does anyone know of any decent people breeding

To be fair there are running dogs of most crosses that will tackle most quarry but by the same way there are also running dogs of the same crosses that wont.particular crosses tend to be good for particular quarry but if its an all rounder that your after the best start would be to find a dog from a line of dogs doing it all on both side just as Ideation quite rightly advised earlyer in the topic.

What cant speak cant lie and if you look back at its breeding and the whole line is doing what you want then although still not certain off success at least you can stack the odds in your faivour.

Just my opinion.

Hope that you find what your looking for mate

cheers for all the lads whove helped i know its difficult to give breeders in this day and age but the amount of rubbish people have spon in selling pups is wearing a bit thin if the dog does the job the buyer asks be honest dont lie just to make the sale as you can tell ive not had what i need and i have given these dogs the right amount of time
