when do ferrets come into season

At the moment, my Hob is chaterring all over the place constantly and rubbing himself up everywhere and his balls have started to drop.

 

He is smelling stronger too, ferret aftershave i call it.

 

Around the march/april time woodchip, the jills will come onto heat aswell.

a friend of mine who runs a rescue had some jills in season a few weeks back

should be after march 21st when theres 12hrs of light and 12 hrs of dark. but my hobs are starting to drop already. dont know if its global warming or just wishfull thinking.

To be honest it depends if you house then outside or indoors, there have been some posts of peoples ferrets already being pregnant & a post on here saying a jill dropped a litter a few weeks ago, mineare housed outside and were slightly in season a few weeks ago , not enough to be causing any problems yet though

9 month old hob has learned the neck hold but has not mastered the other end yet!!

Strangly enough have just been thinking about this as my four jills came into season second week in january,the earlest ive ever none it! What with the colder weather coming later to kill off the nettles and rubbish, then rabbits having young earlier the ferreting seasons getting shorter.
