Simoman 110
Almost all my shooting with my shotgun is for pigeons, for the first time this week I have been invited to attend a shoot where I will be shooting my first pheasants, what shot size is best Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Pick a number mate I've thought this before and people have sworn by 5's 6's and 7's. I use whatever is in my bag but if i was to go and buy some especially i'd get some fast 32g size 6's. Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
If they are ordinary driven birds, coming at you from the treetops, sixes will be fine, but if they are very high driven birds, then drop to fives mate.A good tip here, is a 6 in the first barrel, and a 5 in the 2nd.However, you must buy fibre wads, whatever you get, plaswads are a no no these days.Have a great day. Simoman 110
Thanks baldie, its a friend of a friends last day as a keeper on a big estate and we are walking it with dogs, hes told me to bring my shepherds but I think i'll just take the terrier and have been told that rabbits, pheasants, foxes and crows are to be shot. It's just for a few of the beaters and us, looking forward to it. Quote Link to post

Guest baldie
If your shooting all that lot, i would go with 5,s full stop, and you should kill everything, shot within a sensible range, which is 40 yards for everything but foxes. Quote Link to post
