StevoSmith 147
I'm sorry mr mole but not matter what the swan population is you do not shoot them. Now dont get me wrong i know that in easten europe they eat them and i know that in germany they are fair game on thier general lisence....however in this country they are protected and whoever shoots them needs thier ass handing to them.......if you feel its ok to shoot a swan mr mole.....more so with a air rifle then your twisted because this method can only cause inhumane injurys to the bird....my opinion but im sick to death of people giving us decent shooters a bad name He never said it was OK.anywhere in his post, he is speculating about reasons for it and stating some other stuff. I agree with a lot of it really,, the number of swans killed for food by eastern eupropeans far outnumber those shot by fukin little nobshits with cheapo airguns (put money it that they used an SMK) Ok RA maybe it was said the wrong way......i never ment to put it that way however it was obvious they were not killed for food as the carcass was left behind. It is plainly obvious that they did it for fun and as Tony has said Our laws are there for a reason no matter how effin stupid we find them. We will not be able to shoot the lowly rat if this cr@p keeps happening because the vermin lover's will get thier way and have all pest's on protected list(ok mybe a little extreme but you all know what i mean). Anyway i do NOT agree with shooting swans it's wrong and if i seen anyone doing it i would hand thier ass to them and drag em down the police station. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
(put money it that they used an SMK) No chance RA If they had used my SMK they wouldn't have left one standing injured! Well I wouldn't anyway. It matters not what gun they used though does it? They were just plain fecking scumbags who did it what ever they used Our laws are our laws and no matter how stupid (and trust me I've just found out exactly how stupid they can be) they are there to be obayed or complained about, not to be broken. HA ha ,,,OK hands up,, that was my wee piss take for tonight! Its a fair cop guv Quote Link to post

Read what I said about fishing too! I do not feel it is ok to shoot a swan, read what I wrote about Kettle, the swan that used to graze on anglers supplies and could only be dissuaded by a bank stick! Even though Kettle was bleeding annoying he was still a majestic bird! I passed up an opportunity to shoot an anorexic pheasant yesterday as it was not legally the season, so please read what I write and then put a reply up! I was drawing attention to what was happening and the likely source of the culprits! Quote Link to post
Squirrel Shooter 5
It's pointless acts of cruelty like this that are going to see air rifles require a Section 1 FAC in the future - you may be incredulous now but it could so easily happen, and it would have devastating ramifications for our sport. As usual it all comes down to a small minority ruining it for the overwhelming majority because they are too immature, irresponsible and reckless to be afforded the freedoms that decent human beings are. Squirrel Shooter 5
What they gained depended on the size of the flock before they started. OK so swans are a beeping nuisance when you are coarse fishing, one on the Trent near the forest ground used to investigate bait tins and lunch boxes and refused to be dissuaded by anything less than a bank stick, but they are majestic creatures and off the menu as far as us commoners go (her Maj can eat them though). The problem is we have someone who has killed, probably for food though some sick git may have shot them for "sport", but the likelihood they were killed for food. The countryside is now being plundered by people for food, carp, tench, barbel, all being stripped from the rivers, not only by rod and line but by netting! Soon we will see a great decline in wildfowl encountered in parks (ducks, geese etc) and poaching will become more frequent. Soon it will be that we will no longer be able to control vermin, as there will be none left. If anybody doubts what I say I was on a fishing trip last year, which a couple of Eastern Europeans were on, everything they could keep they did, including a conger eel, that was only about 15lb in weight. This was stuffed into an ice box they had brought on board with them. It was fun watching them trying to put other fish in to find the conger was quite happily in residence eating all the other fish they had caught though! A half hour battle with the conger then ensued and it was not pretty! Before anybody gets the hump and starts calling me racist, my Grandfather was born in Russia, to a Polish mother and Russian father, he resided in Warsaw and joined the Polish Airforce when some German oik decided to invade. He managed to escape just before the country fell to the Nazis and joined the Polish Free Airforce, Heavy Bomber squadron. After the war because he was an expert in radio and radar he was kept on to teach radar use to the colonies, like India. By the time he was discharged from the airforce he had married my Grandmother and was refused entry back to Poland, as a stateless person he emigrated to South Africa before returning when the ANC really started blowing things up (well the Umkhonto We Sizwe bit did anyway). He was naturalised British in 1965 and was proud to be British, even voting against the Common Market in the referendum... Edited due to spacebar sticking and not putting space in when hit! (Where is hammer to fix this problem??) Of course you're not racist! I too am an avid fisherman (mainly coarse,) and I have witnessed men of eastern European decent taking Carp, Barbel, Roach and Chub for the pot, and every time I approach them in a friendly manner and casually ask if they have a fishing licence. To this day I've yet to meet one who has, and I've encountered many. I think that the problem is caused by a conflict in cultures, and to be fair - when was the last time you were asked to produce a licence by an official? Quote Link to post

I take it by that you thought it was thin, and quite possibly had a pellet in it from the end of the shooting season. I think you would have been quite within your moral rights to put it out its misery, they only go down hill and eventually die anyway. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Yeah but if one of the houses overlooking my permission reported me for shooting a pheasant out of season it could lead to us not being able to shoot on the land, not something I want! Quote Link to post
