neilnbeanie 10
Hello mate, its a place in Essex called Crowsheath. I did a couple of seasons on there, didnt do any last year but im going to dust off the rods again this summer. They are proper grown on english cats (if there is such a thing) atb. Neil. bobcullen79 1,495
nice cats pal what baits would you recomend, also what test curv rod thanks Big smelly baits, meaty or fishy. They get hammered at Beaver on Cell boilies tho!? 3lb plus rods for small uk waters and 5lb plus for the continental rivers. Depends on the lake and angler I suppose. I`d say a heavy duty hooklink was more important tho. Another few weeks and they should start moving... And Im gonna get me one. Quote Link to post
neilnbeanie 10
nice cats pal what baits would you recomend, also what test curv rod thanks Hello mate, They can come out on any bait really, and i have personally seen them come out on sweetcorn! My personal favourites would be squid, raw pigs liver and if there isnt too much small stuff in your lake i would fish half a tin of luncheon meat on a long hair with a nice big hook to match the size of bait your using. Rods i would say at least 2.5 test curve upwards but the most important thing would be 20lb new line, strong hooks and really reliable knots. All these will be tested to the limit when you hook one. Hope this is helpful, good luck. Neil. Quote Link to post

Would be interesting to see if wild fish went for it as much as captive fish Quote Link to post

neilnbeanie 10
To be honest i used to rack my brains trying to think of a new "wonder" bait for them that no one else had thought of, then as i said a mate of mine was fishing next to me one evening for carp and he had a twenty pound cat on a couple of grains of sweetcorn Thats not to say those baits wouldn't work i reckon they would but its more of a case of being in the right place at the right time. Ive had a second rod go off while ive been playing a fish a few times and i may have been sitting there for a couple of days without a run. I also know one lake that i used to fish where no one would have a take for days then one night almost everyone would catch. As for baits Halibut pellets work really well but they are best dipped in oil before using them as they will dissolve slower, i used salmon oil but anything will work, also you can buy leeches there is also lobworms (free if you dig them up yourself) and of course livebaits and deadbaits of these i like lamprey they leek blood for ages. Boiles also take quite a few fish. something fishy, i used to fish them over the top of a carpet of halibut and salmon pellets. Hope this is of some help, as i really think they are worth waiting for, they will easily put up a much better fight than any carp or pike. atb. Neil Quote Link to post
