Malt 379
i had this conversation a while back with a few lads down the local.to me a working animal that is kept only as a pet is cruel,it is there natural instinct to want to hunt so why pretend they are anything but a natural born hunter. one of the lads said to me "well you keep ferrets so therfore they are your pets" to which i replyed NO a pet is something that has been bred purposley to be domesticated and live with humans. but he just couldnt grasp what i was trying to explain. Ferrets were/are bred purposefully to be domesticated and live with humans and hunt? A pet/working animal is what you make it, as is a ferret. I'll second that. Ferrets are one of the few domesticated animals who actively initiate play with their human owners, most would be just as happy having constant human interaction as they are working. An animal doesn't solely work because it enjoys it, it does so because it's instinctive to do so.. Quote Link to post
deanflute 550
I think if you feed them kibble you should have the choice of working food and non working food! How many dogs, Not working dogs just your average dogs get working dog food off their owners just because it's cheaper with it having no tax on it! I bet quite alot. Quote Link to post

ozzieowl 53
the 3 kids av got a ferret each nearly 6 yrs old now. Never been worked but they do get walked and played with, they get bathed a lot as well. I think they would have a fit if I suggested putting them down holes!! My ferrets have all been working ones tho. Quote Link to post
