wire every were ???? (across the fields)

the last few times ive been out lamping there has been electrical wire going across every field then every now and then it is connecting to 2 12volt batterys and some sort of metal box with big connectors

dose any one know what they are for??

electric fences for livestock ,watch your dog or you touch them ive seen a few funny things happen on the lamp with them fences

 

 

no there not electric fences the wire is red extension cable on the floor it goes for miles and miles across ditches, roads and through woods we drove over 100mile the other night and it was on just about every field and on every other field it goes to a metal box about 70mm thick by 1 1/2 foot long and 3/4 foot wide then connected to two 12 volt batterys wired up so they are 24 volt then the wire carrys on going till it gets to the next box and batterys. anyone got a clue what this is for. also it does not seem to go to any property's.

it is for oil and gas monitoring to see if there are any reserves underground. was out lampin meself in skidby and fell over one of the boxes, they are right out across newbald and walkington too.
