Hannah4181 260
Surgeon Joseph Bruner: "Depending on your political point of view, this is either Samuel Armas reaching out of the uterus and touching the finger of a fellow human, or it's me pulling his hand out of the uterus ... which is what I did." (Quoted in The Tennessean, Jan. 9, 2000) :whistling: sorry hannah but its anti-abortion propaganda, been around for years now  Your missing my point . . . .. i have zero interest in the politics behind the actions of either the surgeon or the photographer. I am ONLY commenting on the image and the power it has created, its huge and that imo is remarkable from a photograph alone. Wether the hand was removed or moved itself, it still remains that the hand of that tiny baby has been captured holding the surgeons hand. But if we are getting into the politics . .. . . why would the surgeon need to hold that teeny hand like that, angled so beautifully at the camera??? . . . . . no publicity is bad publicity. :whistling:
Tallyho 181
When you look thinking the baby had grabbed his hand its quite moving but then reading the other comments about he put his finger in and pulled the hand out from the womb , it then didn have quite the same feel to it, so i dont think its so much the picture but the words that go with the picture that moves people.
Moll. 1,793
The photo is actually about 12yrs old. Yes it is a nice photo, but spoiled because of the anti abortion lot making it something it never was for their own benefit. Just like antis showing a road kill and claiming it was ripped apart by hounds. Sorry did not mean to put a downer on your post Hannah, but false media reporting really boils my p****
nellandbran 8
What a beautiful picture, just goes to show how strong these tiny babies are, I had my identical twins at 26 weeks, they was really poolly, a guy called geoff ogden [ogie] had to walk out when he saw them, thought they would'nt survive, they are 10 years old now and there is nothing wrong with them tipical lads, termanation is every womans right, right or wrong it has to be put in perspective at what these babies can do at whatever gestation, nothing politcal just my personal view. lorna

Sorry did not mean to put a downer on your post Hannah, but false media reporting really boils my p**** Don't apologise! Healthy discussion is what forums should be about! I agree with you on the use of images in false media reporting, but stand by my claim that the image is massively powerful, and that right there, that instant need to discuss, does not happen with many photos. :notworthy: Positive or negative responses, either way the image has created a discussion. The date the image was taken is also important as the advances in technology within the photography field also come into play. 12 years ago digital imagery was good, but not a patch on what we use today. There is a very fine line between art and artistic license.
