Does anyone else live in a place like this discribed below, because if you do, your dam lucky....Or is it a tall story.. "to me mate it does not look like prime land ,perhaps im spoiled in where i live has most days i look out across to some fields from my house and can see a herd of about 50 sika ,theres also about 14 white ones there ,but the best fields are about a 10 min drive where you can sometimes see herds of about 200 ,plus everything else you want to run . J Darcy 5,871
The first thing is that i doubt if the chap has 14 white Sika in his sights. I would hazard a guess that they are fallow. A white Sika is a very rare beast indeed, but 14! Just a thought...

I would hazard a guess that they are fallow. Where this chap is there is very little in the way of Fallow. I have definately seen the white Sika as well not in those numbers but I was only there on one of my fleeting visit but I always pop over when in that part of the country. Its nice to think that there are numbers of this size roaming.. I know CWD and munti's are plentyful and are becoming of pest proportion, didnt realise that sika were. Only if you crossed the water.. fozzy41 9
I would have a guess at Dorset being the place where this chap lives. It`s one of the strongholds of Sika, including white ones too. I was down there last week on some ground i go on and that place will easily have 100+ on it and its only 600 acres. 200 in a herd is nothing special with Sika. A pal of mine lives in Dorset and regularly photographs herds like this. They frequent a lot of the wildlife reserves so much of time time they don`t get bothered with. fozzy Edited January 3, 2011 by fozzy41
