The bedroom is the ideal one as long as your FEO doesn't think you won't put the guns away if you've been out shooting at night as you don't want to disturb the missus. They can often object to the loft as they think people won't bother to lock the guns away if it's too much hassle to get up there. Garage I'd avoid unless you know it doesn't get damp in there.

Maybe look at a BSA gun cabinet, they are dark green in colour so they don't look like the broom cupboard on a battleship like a Brattonsound does, she might be happier with that.

1)the garage which is under the house

2)bedroom (but will pi$$ the mrs off lol)

3) loft?

This is a problem we all face. In my old house I was lucky, as I had an old cupboard under the stairs, which fitted a four gun cabinet with an inch either side. I drilled each side of the cabinet, secured bolts and filled the sides with concrete. When we moved I tried for weeks to remove the cabinet. I guess the new owners would have had to board over the front :)

1) Garage, this is normally a complete no! It's not occupied and a target for thieves

2) Bedroom, good place but you need to disguise the cabinet. Could it be fitted in side a wardrobe?

3) again, good place but access is a big issue. If you have easy access you will be okay, as long as the walls segregating you from next door are solid and not just fire block.

The three most important things are:

1) The cabinet is secured to a load baring wall and can not be pulled off the wall by hand. The FEO will give the cabinet a good tug!

2) The cabinet can not be seen through windows or doors and out the way from visitors.

3) The cabinet must offer you easy access, so your not tempted to leave your guns out over night ready for an early start or cause you to leave the guns out after a late night. It's when your not expecting it, someone breaks in and steals your gun!!

We live in a cottage now and I have four cabinets dotted around the place.
