FERRETBOY 680
for those who make there own purse nets straight onto the ring i was just wondering what knot do you use and prefere for strength and neatness to start the net with.i use just a double knot as this seems to be tight enough but would like to try out other knots.also how do you finnish of your nets of when you also finnish on the net on the bottom ring. good hunting rew Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
used to start on the ring with clove hitch.... now i just make a loop with my twineknit onto that..... when at end of net i knit the ring on, turn it round, and knit the other ring on, using the twine from the loop. Rabbithunter 456
unfortuneatly no pics, i'll try get some batteries for camera and take some. the clove hitch did me fine for purse net's... a lot of the lads will use the clove hitch when attaching longnet lines onto grommets Quote Link to post

mole catcher 1
2 half hitchs to start with and i finish putting the rings on with a rolling hitch, sorted. Quote Link to post
Crow 1
On my starting ring I use a kind of forward then reverse hitch ( I don't know what it actually is ) which I find I can get tight on the ring. Also, the trailing end of twine is knitted under these knots (along the ring) and is then tightly secured to the final knot (if you know what I mean). I do this for two reasons; 1) it ensures that the starting knot cannot come undone, 2) it keeps the knots tight and together on the ring (I hate nets that allow the knots to slide around the ring!). Anyway, finished result: Quote Link to post
