i cant advise you on the dog in shock other than get it to a vets if your worried or the dog gets worse

the slipping of its collar i can .. get a longer canvas lead & noose it round the dogs neck while its clipped to the collar .. its saved my bitches life more than once

What i have learned from my bitch over the last few years is her body posture changes when she is going to try to slip her collar .. i always walk her on a short lead because i can feel the change in her posture on my thigh & i then noose the lead ... it stops her pulling backwards & getting her head out of the collar

She is a little shit for it  .. hope your dogs ok though

Alternatively just tighten the collar?? :whistling:

Keep a check on her gum colour and warm her slowly . . . delayed shock can be fatal. I would phone your vet and just ask for a bit of advice, hope she's ok.

ive just rang the vet and he says as long as shes dry and shivering and keeping alert she should be ok as long as she dosnt get to warm to quick

Have you taken the dogs temperature? Normal body temperature for dogs is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Hannah is right the temp should be raised slowly. Good luck with your dog, it's always my biggest fear when out with my dogs.

Kay - I think I can imagine what you are describing there about a noose over the dogs head. Do you keep the noose over it's head the whole time so that if needed, it is already in place? Next time you have your camera out could you take a photo of this technique?

Thanks.

KEEP IT WARM BUT NOT 2 WARM. GUMS TURNING LIGHT OR BLUE MEANS BLOOD AINT CIRCULATING AS NORMAL. WARM MASSAGE FULL BODY WITH A TOWEL ALSO HELPS BLOOD CIRCULATION. PLENTY FLUIDS & IF SHE TAKES MILK, WARM IT WITH SOME GLUCOSE IF DOG IS USED 2 SUCH SUCH A MIXTURE.PROVIDES FLUIDS & ENERGY////AS I SAID DONT OVERHEAT THE DOG, AS THIS ALSO DEHYDRATES THE DOG WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO GET IT BACK ON ITS FEET. GOOD LUCK  Edited by optimus
