Hannah4181 260
Alternatively just tighten the collar?? Keep a check on her gum colour and warm her slowly . . . delayed shock can be fatal. I would phone your vet and just ask for a bit of advice, hope she's ok. Quote Link to post

Guest crobinc840
Have you taken the dogs temperature? Normal body temperature for dogs is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Hannah is right the temp should be raised slowly. Good luck with your dog, it's always my biggest fear when out with my dogs. Quote Link to post

Do you keep the noose over it's head the whole time so that if needed, it is already in place? Next time you have your camera out could you take a photo of this technique? Thanks. Quote Link to post
optimus 447
hi all ive just had my dogs out for there evening walk and my dog slipped its collar and ran off after a cat.... long story short she ended up in a semi frozen lake by the time i got to her she was "BLUE" so to speak so i quickly wrapped her up in my coat and got her home she seems ok now ive dried her and warmed her up but is a little pale, she seems to be ok and alert as normal but could shock etc still set in??????? what do i need to be looking out for? KEEP IT WARM BUT NOT 2 WARM. GUMS TURNING LIGHT OR BLUE MEANS BLOOD AINT CIRCULATING AS NORMAL. WARM MASSAGE FULL BODY WITH A TOWEL ALSO HELPS BLOOD CIRCULATION. PLENTY FLUIDS & IF SHE TAKES MILK, WARM IT WITH SOME GLUCOSE IF DOG IS USED 2 SUCH SUCH A MIXTURE.PROVIDES FLUIDS & ENERGY////AS I SAID DONT OVERHEAT THE DOG, AS THIS ALSO DEHYDRATES THE DOG WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO GET IT BACK ON ITS FEET. GOOD LUCK Edited December 18, 2010 by optimus Quote Link to post
