longdogs/lurchers no diffrence i.m.o

Recommended Posts

longdogs are a pure breed or a cross between any of the long dogs but lurchers were created to hunt but not to look like a running dog(longdog) back in the days when it was illegal for normal folk to hunt but now longdogs are just racing machines imo or show dogs and lurchers are or should be bred worker to worker(best to best) and remember speed aint everything normally if they got good top end speed they lack on the turn..... Well thats my oppinion anyway

This bitch is a "Longdog"; and is certainly NOT "just a racing machine or show dog" !

imo a longdog or the term long dog is just a name given to lurchers wih a long back and is more often used to describe hare coursing dogs whereas the smaller types ie beddy whippet crosses etc which are shorter in the back are not put into the category as a longdog but are 2 of the same thing at the end of the day lurchers

longdog is two diffrent sighthounds breed together. yes ur right have long back . but where did beddy whippet come in there not even in the same planet as a sighthound or longdog at winter hare,s

but i did read there best deer courser,s than any other breed if deer is penned up in a phone box :notworthy::thumbdown::toast:

i used the beddy whippet cross as an example to show the differences between the length of back

i know what breeds come in to form a longdog i've kept enough of them

where do you get off with your sarky comment about them doing deer in a phone box :feck: you plank if you had read my post correctly beddy whippet crosses ETC are NOT in the same category but are STILL lurchers all the same

This wee bitch is a "Lurcher", (Beddy/Grey X Deer/Grey-Whippet/Grey), as you can see, she has a "long back", but isn't a "Longdog", now, I own both Lurcher and Longdog, and both have their jobs, but both "overlap" in what they do; one does certain jobs better than the other, but they compliment each other.
