Nice little Vixen

Recommended Posts

Went down to the farm last night. Apart from the chill factor from the wind it was a decent breeze and just the right amount of moonlight for having a walkabout as the weather and terrain now make it pretty much undriveable.

My mate Jamie had the .22lr for the bunnies and I had the 22-250 for the foxes. We walked up the hill that had recently been planted with saplings and we nabbed a few bunnies easy enough and after a few minutes spotted a bright pair of eyes right just peering over the brow of the hill but couldn't take a safe shot and it away it disappeared :censored: .

After walking around for another half hour we bagged a few more bunnies as well as missing a few also :icon_redface: . I then tried doing a few calls for a few minutes and then scanned the area with the NV but no joy, then as we flicked the lamp back on I spotted some eyes again so off went the lamp and on went the NV and I saw the fox coming down off the hill which we had just circled round. I rested the rifle on a large fence post and just as I was ready to make my shot my foot slipped on the mud and I lost my opportunity as it disappeared into the rough ground head.

We headed further along the track and we flicked the lamp down into the rough and spotted the eyes again but this time the fox was not going to be so lucky as the a-max hit the spot and down it went :victory: . I must admit though that by the time we retrieved it and got back up the hill which suddenly appeared to be a lot steeper I felt like I was going to have a heart attack ! :icon_redface: I have obviously spent too much time driving about for foxes ! :unsure:

Anyway here it is ;

Nice read again Dave :thumbs: .

I've had no joy my last few outings, no shortage of Foxes around but they've either been too far away and show no interest, or they've been right on the skyline offering no safe shot. But at least I know they're about for later :D .
