trappa 517
Ive still got some tadpoles in my pond. Proper tadpoles too, no legs or tail ! They are sure to die first time the pond freezes, any ideas why? they just havent seemed to have matured and werent laid late either, we had one lot of frogspawn but that was spring/summer. Malt 379
That seems odd mate. Maybe the cold start to the year has hindered their development?
fish 148
they will overwinter OK as long as the pond not frozen to the bottom.have them here most winters.
trappa 517
Thats good to know fish. Ive always had them "hatch" and leave in the summer, this is first time they havent grown. Like malt says, must be something to do with thw warmth - or lack of it.
Guest bezza
I would guess that they have had very poor feeding mate. if you had loads of taddies, then there wouldn't be enough algae and then later protein to go round. I feed my taddies on dry dog food. As soon as it's thrown in they congregate around the individual biscuits. I would think it would be too late now as I guess their metabolic rate will have slowed with the temperature. However as has been said they should overwinter ok.
