watchman 256
ok guys may sound daft but i was out with the dogs the other day and i walked past some small woods full with woodies crows and maggies ,but when i went back on the night time the place was empty ,why was this? do they have diffrent sets of trees for day time to there sleeping trees? they may well sit out a few hours after feeding, during even, in various trees as you have seen, but they will return to favourite roosts to bed down for the night, prob trees that offer more cover i find Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
i find tha pigeons stick to the same roost trees, but will have numerous sitty trees. maybe some a near a crop, some have good vantage point, others have food supplies like hawthorns and sloes. you have to hunt around for good sitty trees, and find out what time of day they are using them. Millet 4,497
Watch for there flight lines about 1 hour before dark pigeons will roost in the same area but if you keep disturbing them by shooting they will move of to a different area round my way i have found they like the taller trees like sycamore and oak, magpies will hang around the same area especially if you have a dense hawthorn wood near by, dont over do it on a regular basis though as they soon click onto your presance and you cant get any where near them with out them letting the alarm call of.
