SEAN3513 7
all those that left a reply, saying a cabinet is needed before a license will be issued, are talking BOLLOXS I did apply for mine, before BUYING a cabinet, and had my visit, before BUYING a cabinet, and had the license on my door mat, yes, before BUYING a cabinet, with the instruction from my FAO, that once the cabinet was bought and installed, and a shotgun purchased, he would then pop back to check... that wasnt the case with me stubby..........i HAD to have a cabinet fitted ready for the feo's visit.......i guess it differs from force to force. that said........it was some time ago.......and my memory may be starting to fail !!!! Wullz 408
Interesting read, when I applied for my coterminous licence, I had already installed the cabinet that the person I was buying the guns from had given me. (the guns were with a firearms dealer) Now the person that I bought them from had his licence and had used this cabinet to store them, however when my FAO arrived for my interview, he knocked back the cabinet as not appropriate and insisted I buy a 'proper' cabinet before he would even consider allowing my application through. I did as asked and he even came back to check it before progressing my licence. Funny how different FAO's take a different view of things..... Quote Link to post
BellySlater 15
West Midlands Fire Arms Officer - " no problem, i'll grant you the ticket, just make sure that I have seen your cabinet in place BEFORE I receive notification you have bought a shotgun" Had the license three months before I even contemplated buying a cabinet......all different I guess Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Aye Lothian and borders issued me with a SGC with no cabinet. At the time (a good while back) my FLO was OK with me chaining the shotgun to a pipe in the loft.!! adequate precautions it was called !. Cant see many allowing that now though. Back to the case in point. You do not need to have a cabinet fitted to be issued with a SGC. You`re FLO may be a bit stroppy about it but thats just the luck of the draw. These blokes vary from area to area. ATB Edited October 19, 2010 by Rake aboot Quote Link to post
