hilly 6
Now that I've sent off all me bits for a FAC and SGC I am going to get the cabinet sorted and bolted to the wall. Looking at ones for sale there are so many sizes to choose, what size would be the smallest to store a Rimmy and Shotty in and so then I can make sure that I go for that size or larger and not to small. And do I need a little safe next to it to store the ammo in so its all stored seperate from each other? Does anyone know of any going cheep that are local to me and at British stds? Thanks guys, Mark. Quote Link to post
halamrose 24
Hi Mark, It kind of depends on your rifle and scope, a basic rifle with open sights may be OK in a shotgun cabinet but with a large scope, moderator and bipod you may need a tall and deep cabinet. On the other hand its a good idea to remove the moderator and if you go for a 16 inch barrel to start with even with mod left on your looking at a compact combination. I have a 6 gun Box and find I can get 3 air rifles and a shotty in sideways. You will need a separately locking compartment for ammo for the rimmy but Shotgun ammo does not have to be so secure. A built in lock top is one option or a cheap safe from Argos though mine came from B%Q for £20. I've found the Cambridge firearms people both friendly and helpful. Good luck. hilly 6
I,m looking at about £100 to spend on one does that sound about right? Edited October 16, 2010 by hilly Quote Link to post
stubby 175
I bought new, FAC cabinet with the internal safe, its the 3-5 gun one, but is NOT the extra deep one, cost me around £100 from internet, just do a google search for nearest to you, there's so many firms out there you'll surely get a good deal as I knew I wouldent be having shed loads of guns, I opted for the not so deep one, it easily takes a 410 shoty, a hatsan escort, and my CZ.22 with tele sights attached and harris bi-pod, this is just turned at an angle for everything to fit in nicely Quote Link to post
hilly 6
Thanks for the help guys. I've just been to my local gun shop and he had one in for £110 with a inside safe and it holds 4 guns and is quite deep so I had it for £100. All I need to do is pass and then start on with the gun shopping Mark. Quote Link to post

With a 10/22 you get a choice of barrel, 16 is all you need and longer may vibrate more affecting accuracy he said talking out of his... I've a book on modification of 10/22 I can lend you if you want. There are lots of things you can do to improve what some would say is only a mediocre rifle to start with, again I speaking from having no personal experience so make up your own mind.
