Hi Everyone new to the forum looking for some advice on getting in to ferreting, Ive kept them as pets before,but never worked them. I found a young kit under my shed riddled with ticks so ive nursed her back to health and built her an 11ft run but I'd like to work her if possible but im unsure how any help gratefully appreciated.

Alright Ben, try getting a decent book on ferreting and also see if you can find anyone who doe's a bit. I'm sure there will be someone near to you who will take you out and show you the ropes.

Aye see if you can get somebody local to you to show you the ropes take you out etc before you find out its nio for you and youve spent money on a locator nets ect .

Definitely get yourself another ferret mate, not only do they like a bit of company- they'll usually work better in pairs.

 

There's a few books available- some better than others, but even the less good ones give you a good idea; with experience you'll learn what was good advice and what was BS!

Yeah I'm after another for her to play with, I've read a few books I was inspired by a poacher tale by Alfred curtis as a child
