you know somthing it was a stunning day ..the fens is like concrete.. so i loaded the dogs into the landy and headed of up the dales ..i drove up some green lanes right on top of the dales ...then i walked for while till i found some land which i thought would hold a good number of bunnies got myself a good view point and got my camera out and followed the dogs with it ..its pretty hard to get good actions ..its not like taking pics bolting to ferrets ..its ok when your dogs get a mark you get a good idea when theres going to be a chase ..but alot of the time the dogs are working the cover and a rabbit flys out of the other side ...the chase is on .. :icon_eek: i really enjoy watching my two lurchers working the cover .or any lurcher for that matter .when they get a mark the tails starts wagging ..stronger the mark faster the tails go .lol..and then somtimes its an instant mark ..the dogs go stiff as a board ...tail straight like a pointers ...before i knew it i had been there for three hours ..my russel pup at my side not wanting stray to far away from me but he was happy playing and munching a rabbit one of the lurchers had bagged ..cant wait till hes working by there side ...i was also watching a pair of buzzards using the wind to there advantage diving and then soaring .some people see buzzards everyday but up the dales there not that common so they where good to watch .the wind was quite strong and cool ...so the dogs wernt getting too hot ...if they got a bit warm ..people who go up the dales quite often like i do know theres always water on tap up there ...the weather was perfect ...i watched some good runs ..caught a few.. missed a few too..the rabbits up there are recoving from a harsh winter the snow really took its toll on the numbers ...i was up there and there where starving rabbits and dead rabbits allover ..but there tough and will recover ..they have it hard these bunnies of ours if it aint the cold its the dreaded mixy ...i got 14 bunnies just mooching and two of those had early stages of mixy .bloodyhell they do have it rough ...but like i say there tough little critters and will be back.,..the views where great ..being on my own with the dogs was great as much as i like company when out.. its somtimes great just to be on your own ..i couldnt tell you how long i was up there but hunger was getting the better of me ..and i had caught more rabbits then i really needed ..so it was time to go....that was my day ...beautiful weather and the best company ....all the best snoop ...

oh and nearly every pic i took was either blurred or crap ...i think i need some lessons ..but still an enjoyble day all the same .....

Went to work...fed Peafowl & Guinea Fowl...Swans & Ducks on the lake, then the Reindeer (3 times), then the Ornamental Pheasant collection. Checked traps. Checked electric fence. Put new roof on an aviary. Drank coffee. Had fags. Same again tomorrow.

Went out ferreting this morning and used the longnets for a change around 2 x 100 yrd long copse, bagged 19 bunnies and buried another 4 with mixi :censored: I bet there was double that amount in there, even with 5 ferrets in they were running circles around them, would they heckers hit the nets, never mind, theyre there for next time, a most enjoyable day never the less, came home and emptied the cupboards :snack:

Lesson number 1 would be to wear a hat . . . . . . . bounce back sunlight from shiny objects can cause havoc with photography. :tongue2:
