FOXES LAMPED AND HUMANELY SHOT IN N. IRELAND

thought i'd share a couple of pics with you all because its been a while since i posted anything

i ran a few foxes with the bull x bitch but i got the feelin she was lackin conviction so i took her out with the rifle and shot a couple to give her a better look... the first fox i got was a few weeks back and it had to be tracked, when i came upon her she was a bit mystified as to what to do with this spittin fiend altho she did despatch it fairly quickly after some encouragement... but later that same night when i called one into range and slipped her i got the feelin she was still tryin to figure out what it was all about... so i put her away for a while and brought her out tonight with the rifle again... she was definately a whole lot keener this time round but i'll know for certain when she gets her next slip!! hopefully she makes the grade because i think a fair bit of the bitch and when it comes to rabbits or hares theres not many she misses!! and to add shes the most easiest bitch i've had to train to date!!

lol your right, its hard to tell lol ... the rifles a .22mag with winchester rounds.. but i think its fair to say when people shoot foxes they'l be a few that get away injured no matter how good a shot you are!! just to add it was only one fox that needed tracked and it was found deep in a hedge about a field away the others were dropped on the spot with a shoulder shot on the first fox and a throat shot on the second last night!! and from about 60 yards

Instead of shooting you might be better to take her out with another dog. Let the other dog catch and try to pull it off then let your bitch in. That way you'll see what shes got in her.

well thats usually the way everyone does it but i always kept myself to myself and i usually never have the option of another dog although a lad has offered to take me out with his dog so i might take him up on it!! this will be the 5th dog i've entered this way... most of them have been a success to a degree tho some didnt stick the pace and one in particular just never got into it at all, she was a whippet/greyhound x collie/greyhound... she rarely ever missed pullin them down but after that it was a barkin match!! i'd really like to see this one improve, shes a really nice bitch to have about

The only reason i said about that way is that i know some dogs won't give it there all if the fox is injured or cant put up a strong fight. They might just do enough to kill it without ever pushing itself. At your dogs age i'd rather just throw it in at the deep end on its own. There'll be no better way of finding out about your bitch than just putting her at the sharp end. Good luck with her, hope she does what your after. Keep us updated :)
